The World of Difference Mission

Our mission is to introduce people of all ages to world cultures and promote cultural understanding through arts-based programming that is interactive and educational.

How Our Programs Work

In each program, audience members become part of an interactive folktale where learning and laughter combine for an unforgettable cultural experience.

All programs are designed to comply with State of Ohio Academic Content Standards in: Social Studies (People in Societies and Geography), Fine Arts (Historical, Cultural and Social Contexts and Creative Expression and Communication) and Foreign Language.

Audience Participation

We believe that people remember what they DO more than what they SEE. For this reason, each folktale that we use for performance is carefully adapted to provide as many opportunities for audience participation as possible.  While there are actors in our performances, it is the audience members who become the real stars of the show!  From playing a character in the folktale, to providing sound effects, to answering trivia questions, to speaking in another language, to playing a musical instrument from a foreign country -- opportunities for audience involvement abound!  Audience members bring their own personality, creativity and imagination to the show, and this means that no two shows are ever alike!

Meet Our Artistic Director

Lindsay Bonilla is a graduate of Northwestern University, where her studies focused on theatre, creative dramatics, storytelling, and world religions. Her career in the theatre includes  experience in performance, teaching, directing, and script-writing.  After performing and teaching drama in the Akron area for two years, she relocated to Madrid, Spain where she taught ESL classes and worked for Interacting, an audience-participatory theatre company. With Interacting she toured Spain and Portugal developing and using interactive theatre shows to teach English to students from pre-school to adult. Lindsay can also be heard as the voice of Carlita, the Spanish-speaking chameleon, on the nationally-syndicated children's TV show, Ask Gilby. Lindsay’s passion for learning about other cultures has taken her to 5 continents. She also has a K-12 teaching license in Spanish.

“My life has been enriched by many multicultural relationships and experiences. World of Difference was born out of my desire to instill in others an appreciation for all cultures, to encourage creativity, and to foster a love for learning.”

What children do is more significant to them than what they see and hear.  They would rather act in a dramatization instead of sitting in the audience.
